The construction and
demolition (C&D) recycling company last year recycled approximately
180,000 tons of construction debris that otherwisewould be landfilled.
About 90 percent of waste received at the facility is re-used as mulch
or paper or burned as fuel for energy. Dirt is filtered out for landfill
cover. Metal is sold for scrap, and masonry is crushed for construction
re-use.
About 90 percent of the
material sent to the construction and debris facility is recycled,
saving more than 180,000 tons from going to a landfill in 2007. |
