Norfolk Environmental Commission Presents  Ernie Morgan Award to Marjorie Mayfield Jackson

Marjorie Mayfield Jackson, Executive Director, Elizabeth River Project, has received the Ernie Morgan Award of Service, the highest honor awarded each year by the Norfolk Environmental Commission. The award was presented at a ceremony and picnic on June 23 at the Ernie Morgan Environmental Center.

Marjorie was presented the award by Jim English, Chairman of the Norfolk Environmental Commission and Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim. Master of Ceremonies was Bob Batcher, Host of Perspectives on the City of Norfolk's Cable TV station and Public Relations Manager for the Department of Communications.

Ernie Morgan championed Norfolk's environment for many years and was a leader and tireless volunteer for many worthy causes and organizations in Norfolk. His 'can do' attitude and spirit of community involvement in City problems inspired this annual award.

Previous Ernie Morgan Awards have been presented to Anthony L. Kealy, Commander Naval Base Norfolk, US Navy, HR Wet, Norfolk Rotary Club, Five Points Partnership/ Community Market, Friends of the Sand Hills, Old Dominion University, and Elizabeth River Project's Outreach Manager, Robin Dunbar.

"I am delighted to receive this award," said Marjorie, "and proud to call the Norfolk Environmental Commission a partner in our ongoing efforts to restore the Elizabeth River."
