Everyone knows that artists
have vision and members of
The Chesapeake Bay Art Association are applying theirs to a fund-raising
project for the Elizabeth River.
On August 16, 46 painters
lined the Portsmouth waterfront at High Street Landing to lend their
creative perspectives to the goal. Easels were set up, palettes were chosen
and paint was spread on canvas and paper in the warm, late summer air. This
type of on-the-spot, outdoor painting--known as Plein Aire--takes special
skill and the ability to work with changing light, sudden breezes and
even a bug or two. Paintings done in this manner often have a noticeable
freshness and spontaneity, even though most are completed back in the
artists' studios, depending on the medium used and subject chosen.
These artists are
counting on you to help them complete this project! You can see
their
original pieces of art
starting Sept. 20 at
Riverview Gallery
on High Street. Or you can
see and bid on the works online now! Final bidding will take place at the big RIVERFest
celebration on September 27th.
Don't miss this special opportunity to enjoy
a wonderful fundraiser for the Elizabeth River Project and take home
original artwork to remember it by.
