FERTILIZER ALERT:
Early Algal Bloom on Lafayette
An algal bloom has been spotted unusually early in the season on the Lafayette River.

"As of June 4, it appears the recent bloom is waning but there are indications of lowered Dissolved Oxygen (required for healthy marine life) in the more headwater regions," reports HRSD's Will Hunley. "We plan to continue weekly monitoring on the Elizabeth and Lafayette for the month of June to keep an eye on it."

Area residents should be especially careful with fertilizers. Read more about how you can made a difference!
